MY FUTURE OFFICE:
Healthier, performance-enhancing and cost-effective offices
The Sentinel Haus Institut presents the results of the “My Future Office” research project. Solutions for optimal occupational health were devised together with scientists, physicians and manufacturers.

The fact that pollutants in the ambient air, too little daylight, poor acoustics and an unfavourable indoor climate cause higher rates of illness, lower employee satisfaction and decreased efficiency paved the way for the My Future Office project. The foundations for its practical implementation were designed during the first stage of the project on the basis of an extensive literature review. The project was instigated by thirteen renowned construction material manufacturers, including the window and facade manufacturer Schüco, the construction chemistry specialist PCI, the worldwide largest manufacturer of interior doors, JELD-WEN, as well as a range of other providers of construction products and interior systems.

European reference room for healthier, motivating work environments

Scientists from a range of different disciplines, occupational physicians and environmental experts, as well as lawyers, were involved in this basic evaluation.
After the products and systems are tested, they are implemented in practice in a European reference room. The scientific evidence is compiled under laboratory conditions at the renowned eco-INSTITUT.
The eco-INSTITUT also carries out separate test chamber experiments with construction and installation products with high pollutant emissions and demonstrates their influence on the interior air quality.
The results of the tests are then implemented in real construction projects in cooperation with architectural offices and investors. “The quality of interior air and other parameters have a direct influence on the health of employees and thus a company’s economic success,” says Peter Bachmann, managing director at the Sentinel Haus Institut. The issue of construction product sustainability will also play a role.
